Carry-on Luggage Advice

Four factors should be considered for carry-on luggage: size, economy, safety, and health. If you keep these points in mind, you are more likely to avoid problems while traveling. Listed below are some helpful tips.
Size
45 linear inches is the maximum size for carry-on on most airlines. Any larger suitcases will need to be checked in since oversized luggage and packages cannot be stowed onboard. Use your carry-on bag to store only your essentials, such as documentation, jewelry, passports, personal hygiene items, and prescriptions.
Economy
Choose a suitcase that is strong and will be able to protect your valuables. Cheap suitcases may look attractive, but it is a waste of money if it doesn’t keep your belongings safe. Jeep luggage bags are a good example of carry-on luggage that can be used for storing computers, jewelry, money, and legal documents. In rare situations, the airline may require all your bags to be checked-in, so be prepared for that possibility.
Safety
Heavy items should be stowed underneath the seat, not in overhead compartments. If the item is too heavy it may fall out of the overhead area and cause injuries. You should also avoid stuffing items in the luggage compartment.
If there is an emergency evacuation, leave all your carry-on items on the plane. Rushing to retrieve your personal belongings will slow you down and impede the evacuation of other passengers. Before taking off, remember to review the safety instructions provided by the airline.
Health
Keep items critical to your health on your person, such as medications and prescriptions. If you are packing eyeglasses, be sure to have a sturdy case to protect the lens while they are in your suitcase. If you have any special medical needs, remember to plan ahead for them. If you have a medical problem, you may get special permission to bring certain prohibited items aboard.
